Dialogue is a writer’s tool to develop tension and character and to convey mood, meaning, information. Dialogue is an artificial construct. It’s the writer’s responsibility to make it sound organic to the people portrayed on the page. These four foundational elements will guide you toward creating vivid dialogue.
