Landscapes of Loss: Evoking Emotion Through the Gifts of Setting-- À La Carte

One of the greatest challenges as a fiction writer is knowing how to approach familiar emotional material in fresh, authentic, and accessible ways. This session will utilize setting, in all its nuanced capacities, to create the most emotionally evocative experience for the reader. From insect to avalanche, headline to hometown hero, we will explore the work of writers who deeply engage with setting to create powerful and specific scenarios to engage the reader and create resonance. This session will include generative writing.
