Anatomy of a Scene for Stage or Screen with Alison Gallant

Whether you're writing a TV series, a play, a movie or a one-person show, the same fundamentals apply. This class will focus on "scene work," examining how every scene is a mini-story with beginning, middle, and end. We'll explore character and dialogue as well as emotional beats and turns. Classes will include "table reads" where you'll have the opportunity to have your work read aloud to hear how it sounds on its feet in a safe and supportive environment. Alison Gallant spent two decades working as story analyst for Miramax, Dreamworks, and Sony. She also taught, wrote, performed sketch comedy in San Francisco and taught at the San Francisco Art Institute.
